Contract with Westinghouse Corp.

Took over responsibility for the development, design, and fabrication of a prototype steam generator for a commercial liquid metal fast breeder reactor (LMFBR) plant. Provided technical direction to Westinghouse, the steam generator manufacturer, in the capacity of project manager for the U. S. Department of Energy (USDOE). Held primary responsible for controlling the total design and development effort, involving expenditures of six to twelve million dollars per year. Conducted extensive reviews of engineering analysis, design, development testing, fabrication planning, fabrication, inspection, and quality control. Scheduled and conducted project reviews as needed. Provided an interface between the manufacturer, the USDOE and the reactor manufacturers who defined the functional requirements for the steam generator. Had direct responsibility for a staff of a full time technician and two to four assisting engineers part time in this project management activity.
